Rethinking Family Portraits

I am not a bells and whistles, squeaky toys and "say cheese" kind of photographer. I like to hang back. Let things unfold. Relax. Watch you unwind into your authentic selves.

Peekaboo, and swing the kids crazy, and fly them to the moon with dirt in your hair. Belly to the ground and a big sigh. Pick your nose, and poke your belly, and kiss attack the babies.

Let go of the idea of everything smiling in the same direction. We all know that's not what love really looks like. I'm a sucker for close ups and closed eyes and let the kids go crazy till they fall down. I'm a sucker for let's chase Daddy and whose got the biggest teeth.

Wherever they drop down, snuggle up. Whatever they want to play, play along. Drag them into your loving embrace. Give them the keys and the car and let them choose where to drive. The more you give up, the more you give out, the more they'll give in. This is your authentic love, beaming through the filtered sunlight of autumn leaves. Before getting pulled back into the big picture, where we number our indiscretions and regrets, we close our eyes and get real close and breathe. We tuck way our disappointments and drink in the joy of this small, fleeting moment.

Are you game? Do you want to play along? Snag a session while my portfolio building pricing lasts (good through the first thirteen days of January). Email me, or send me a message on Facebook.
